As the summer of 2018 rapidly approaches, cannabis legalization is upon us. Canadians have plenty of questions about how the herb will fit into their lifestyle, what products will be available, how to safely consume it—and, rightfully so.
The story of Canadian cannabis legalization has been centuries in the making, culminating from the steadfast efforts of activists and their perception-changing movements. Alternative practices for natural wellness and recreational substances aren’t new, but the legal recognition of them will usher in a huge shift in our society.
Right now, Canadians are writing history, and we need to be on the right side of it. As a country, we need honest education, consultation and conversations to move us all in a healthy, well-informed direction.
That’s why, today, Fire & Flower has applied for 37 retail store licenses across Alberta. This announcement comes on the heels of our Edmonton head office relocation, placing us amongst a province of industrious, creative people with an ability for making incredible things happen.
Once permitted by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC), we plan to launch stores in Edmonton, Calgary, Canmore, Red Deer, Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie.
Before legalization, we’ll open our stores to educate and speak with Albertans, providing one-on-one consultation and lifestyle advice. No matter your experience with cannabis, ask our knowledgeable staff your burning questions—we’ll listen and offer guidance to fit your life.
“From local municipalities to Indigenous peoples, engagement and consultation with communities across Alberta has been very important to our application process,” shared Trevor Fencott, our Chief Executive Officer. “We have achieved a significant milestone today on the path to launching the Fire & Flower brand in Alberta.”
We’re creating a community around safe, responsible use of recreational cannabis, and our modern, open-minded stores will be at the heart of it.
